Here’s a before and after of the driveway’s transformation. Paul and his crew did a top-notch job ridding us of the ugly concrete. It was a treat to watch the master at work as he considered the placement of every brick to his complete satisfaction (I’m sure this makes him an excellent chess player). Welcome to our favorite basement of all time. Thanks to our talented team this stunning walkout basement has ZERO bulkheads (anyone in this industry know what a marvellous feat this is 🙌🏻).

It boasts gorgeous natural light, a massive gym (or dance studio|Pilates headquarters depending on your mood), cozy family room perfect for movie night with built-in benchseats and moody Olive green shiplap, a sprawling desk space for the kids to do homework and crafts, guest bedroom, sophisticated bath and the unique feature pictured here: the violin nook. Clad in mcnearbrick Embarcadero thin brick this special space is just waiting to make music! 🎶 🎻

Fun fact: the violin pictured here was made in the 1700’s (1729 to be exact) and belongs to our very own fearless leader, passed down from his Grandfather. Betcha didn’t know he was a musician! Gorgeous music stand is from anthologyhomecollection

A similarity and difference to installing brick and tile. You need to start on a straight, level surface and if you don’t have one you need to create one. That’s exactly what I did here with this piece of trim. I leveled it and screwed a few constructions screws to hold it temporarily. Because bricks are heavier than tile if I would have tried to just place them on the wall without something temporarily holding them and keeping them straight... well you better believe they would have slid down the wall. Once the adhesive was dry and the bricks weren’t going to move, I removed the trim wood and bricked in place of it. Any questions on this brick process? Would you brick something in your home after seeing the process? Do you even like the look of brick? 😆

What I find striking about this lovely home, is that no one of it’s extraordinary features overpowers the other. There is a flow and harmony to the large sweeping copper window caps, the blended brick, the heavy timber details on the dormers and Tudor frame, the rake board supports. Each element striking on its own but in concert, they speak with one voice... one soothing calming voice that says “this house is a home”. Compliments to the designer on the selection of materials for this exquisite home in British Columbia. Brick honors go to McNear Sandmold series in color Embarcadero. Shout out to bcbrick for their solid support.

So many details to admire on this modern farmhouse. The multitude of different gables, box-bays, and dormers popping out, the big open porch, the carriage house garage doors, and all the lighting fixtures... these are a few of my favorite things. Oh, and did I mention the whole glorious house is anchored in the most beautiful white washed brick? Thank you arizona_stone for another fabulous project.
